Introduction

Hi! My name is Marshall, and along side me are two of my classmates, Kyle and Cameron. This blog is a part of our 2nd hour civics class in which we are writing, and proposing to our classmates a fresh, new bill designed by us.

The bill we are proposing is a series of adjustments to be made to the division of spending and to the budget for which Federal Taxes are used. We believe that the amount used for developments in Space and Technology is not enough, after all it only comes to around a little over one percent of the total federal taxes. The main objective of this bill is to divide federal taxes up in a way that will allocate around 10% of total federal taxes to go towards these studies.

As far as how the new percentages would be set on other group budgets we haven’t worked out all the kinks yet, but when it comes to this bill the pros out weigh the cons. Bringing this new generous budget to the space program would be an extremely useful thing for the United States. Developments in certain spacecraft at NASA would make the limited resources of our planet an object of the past as we would be able to harvest the vast, almost unlimited amount of natural resources in our solar system and beyond. Not only would we be able to acquire these abundant resources for our own use, but also they could be used to greatly help our economic system, seeing that we could export these exclusive resources to other countries at a higher tax essentially paying for the massive “shipping and handling.” As far as physical uses for this money, it would fund new research facilities, scholarships for students pursuing STEM degrees, material costs, training programs, and developing new technologies to explore, defend our country(allocating a small portion of the national defense budget for this to develop the so called space corps), and evolve as a human race. Please feel free to leave any feedback, whether it be positive, suggestions, or even criticism, we are welcome to all. 🙂
